Doubling down on a strategy that has proven to fail is not a sign of strengths, but of significant dumbness, explainable only with your anger and fear to look weak. Peace cannot be fought for. It can only be achieved by being peaceful. And if your strategy failed, try something else, not run into the next disaster twice as fast. And, even though you clearly can’t take the pain associated with terrorist attacks like the one last night in Nice, a little more trust in the people in your country please. You should not kill people in Syria or whatever other country, and be the same murderer that you pretend you want to stop. People like Jesus Christ, Mahatma Gandhi and many others have shown how violence can be overcome, and countries could be freed. Act like a leader. Not like a hurt child.

It’s actually pretty simple – where fear is, the brain can’t operate properly. If we allow a fearful majority to fuck it all up, then clearly we have a false understanding of leadership. Leadership is meant to inspire, to protect values, to organize moving a country forward. Not leave decisions to the average, un-informed – and then quitting job.
I just, for the first time, saw first case of Apple Maps having a business address accurate, but Google Maps doesn’t.
The online advertising industry is a corrupt shit show unprecedented in advertising history.
Yep.
I initially thought this was a joke. But no.
And if I had just a tiny little ethical concern using ad blockers – it’s just vaporized.
Paul Thurrott, Windows blogger, in his article Ad-Blocking, iOS 9 and You:
If you’re a Windows phone user, here’s some familiar and depressing news: This conversation doesn’t apply to you. While Windows Phone OS–and, soon, Windows 10 Mobile for phones–certainly has its advantages over both Android and iOS, extensibility and popularity aren’t among them. So this discussion applies only to the mobile platforms people are actually using. Sorry, and yes, it pains me too.
Clarity, at last.
Putting a sales person in charge of a technology company has never really worked. Not in companies I’ve worked, not in other large companies. Sales executives come with the experience of reaching quarterly numbers. And in all the cases I’ve seen that carries over into their new CEO role. A tech company, though, needs to also – if not primarily – focus on what’s next. And make that the focus, from top down. Also, the CEO should be worried about how to best serve its customers, not how to maximize revenue or profits. Exactly why Steve Ballmer failed as CEO. Even though the consequences of such behavior may impact a tech giant only years later. It’s still inevitable. History has proven this to be the case. We’ll see, in a few years, how Cisco is doing with this decision.

Finally got my credit card charged, which usually is the first indication for very soon shipment. I am super-excited. Like a child hours before Christmas. Actually… worse. A lot worse.
The NY Daily News reports that the company has been granted a patent for a portable fan attached to your body which detects exertion and sprays a fragrance to reduce body odor. Just in case that doesn’t do the trick, it connects to social networks to find out where your friends and contacts are, and provides a route to your destination that ensures you don’t run into any of them along the way.
Please tell me this is a freakin’ joke?
Once more, this perfectly illustrates the cultural differences between Google and Apple. Google seems like a bunch of geeks, doing geek stuff, and solving geeks’ problems. While that’s not bad per se, the lack of focus on the average person, a lack of taking the perspective of an average person has led Google to waste resources and it has created a huge number of problems. That combined with their apparent prioritization of making money thru advertising, aka. knowing as much as possible about me, just makes me run away. Fast.
I just installed the Windows 10 Technical Preview.
New start menu looks ugly. Tiles are visually too heavy and make the whole thing look like crap.
Any new features, besides the start menu and being able to run modern apps on the desktop? I mean those two are steps back from the total mess Windows 8 introduced. But do you have anything to offer that would make me consider actually paying for this new version of Windows?
Microsoft, I’m sorry to say, but this is not the version of Windows that will get you back on track. It’s another increment on the way to irrelevance. You’re so fucked.
